Nerds Can In Fact Kick Butt

It's SXSW time again... which means I get to see a bunch of my friends perform plus find some new talent. The collaboration with Nerdcore Nights and Pixels Bar had a much better draw this time around... thankfully in large part to the weather. Was a great day for a nerd music show.

I went a little further down my path of exploring what I could do with film. Given that I have shot at Kick Butt many times before I had a pretty good idea of what the lighting situation would be like. This time around instead of bringing some rolls of Ilford Delta 3200 with me I decided to go with some HP5+ instead. While HP5+ is an ISO 400 film I had heard good things about pushing development up to ISO 3200. I had good results going to ISO 1600 so I figured this would be a good chance to try it out. And I loved the results. I probably could have tried going a stop down in exposure by either going to f/4 or to a 1/125 shutter speed (I was using a Quantaray 28mm f/2.8 lens on the Pentax ES II) but I liked how the shots came out.
